Celebrate the Life of Leslie Miller Blanton

Leslie Miller Blanton was many things to many people. But most of all, she was a mother to Jenn, Stacy, Jason and Jeremy. A great mother. In the words of Jason, an incomparable mother. On Sunday, August 5th, this world lost a wonderful person way too soon. So to celebrate her life, we're declaring next week "Leslie Week."

Whether you had the privilege of knowing her or not, we invite you to help us celebrate her. At some point during the week of August 12th to 18th, do one or both of the following things in Leslie's memory:

  1. Do something nice for your mother. If you live nearby, take her out to lunch, dinner, tea, ice cream. If not, send her a card or flowers or simply call her up to tell her you love her. Or come up with some other special way of celebrating her.  If you have children, get them involved, too.  (Leslie was an amazing Grammy to her grandsons Logan and Riley.)
  2. If your mother is no longer with you, do something special for someone else, be it someone you know or even a perfect stranger.  Maybe even do a random act of kindness (here's a blog post with some wonderful suggestions).
After you've celebrated Leslie Week, come back and post a comment on the Tell Us What You Did page so we have a record of all of the special things that were done in her memory.  You can also help us spread the word by sharing a link to this blog post with your Facebook friends or Twitter followers.  The goal is to get literally thousands of people celebrating her life.

In addition, there is a separate page in this blog for you to leave special memories or stories about Leslie.  So if you knew her, please click over to the Memories and Stories page and tell us how she touched your life.

Leslie had such a generous heart and joyful spirit, and we're doing this to represent all the ways in which she made the world a better place just by being herself. We hope you'll join us to celebrate Leslie Week.
