Celebrate Leslie Week 2013

One year ago today, the world lost a wonderful person who impacted so many people while she was here with us.  So to celebrate her life, we're declaring next week the second annual "Leslie Week."

Whether you had the privilege of knowing her or not, we invite you to help us celebrate her. At some point during the week of August 11th to 17th, do one or both of the following things in Leslie's memory:

  1. Do something nice for your mother. If you live nearby, take her out to lunch, dinner, tea, ice cream. If not, send her a card or flowers or simply call her up to tell her you love her. Or come up with some other special way of celebrating her.  If you have children, get them involved, too.  (Leslie was an amazing Grammy to her grandsons Logan and Riley, and we know she would have loved to meet her latest grandchild, Allie.)
  2. If your mother is no longer with you, do something special for someone else, be it someone you know or even a perfect stranger.  Maybe even do a random act of kindness (here's a blog post with some wonderful suggestions).
After you've celebrated Leslie Week, come back and post a comment on the Tell Us What You Did page so we have a record of all of the special things that were done in her memory.  You can also help us spread the word by sharing a link to this blog post with your Facebook friends or Twitter followers.

In addition, there is a separate page in this blog for you to leave special memories or stories about Leslie.  So if you knew her, please click over to the Memories and Stories page and tell us how she touched your life.

Leslie had such a generous heart and joyful spirit, and we're doing this to represent all the ways in which she made the world a better place just by being herself. We hope you'll join us to celebrate Leslie Week.
From Jason: "Remember friends! In memory of my incredible mother, Leslie Miller Blanton, it is Leslie month! Be selfless, think of others before yourself, put your mother, your sister, and family at the forefront of your life... Just as my mother did! It has been exactly a year since I lost the greatest woman in my life... Don't take yours for granted :) Spread the love in honor of my Mommy :)
